    Default Swim platform rehab

Bought a 2000 supra launch dd a few months back. Previous owners have taken their toll on this boat. Lots of cosmetic issues and gel coat work to come.

First on the agenda was the swim platform. Gelcoat was faded and discolored. There were lots of spider cracks and even a large hole that pushed through to the backside.

I started by cutting out the damage, and glassing in some patches. I sanded down the spider cracks and faired the surface.

Once satisfied i applied the gelcoat, sanded, polished and applied a new black tip jet sports pad.

I am happy with the results!

How did you apply the gel?

I brushed it on in several thick coats then sanded it smooth before polishing. Started with 320 grit dry. Moved from 400-2000 grit wet to get a nice shine. Finished with a cut and polish using a rotary buffer.

Looks awesome. Im trying to decide if i should fiberglass my wooden swim deck on my 87 Saltaire or leave it original with the timber and just redo the teak. It would make it look fresher and more modern but just not sure.

Another vote for keep the teak. The fiberglass platforms always get nicks and chips in them from use.
