    Default Oil pressure issue?

Having a recurring problem where after moving at a decent speed for a period of time, the oil pressure light comes on when I go back to idle speed. It doesn't happen when I start up and idle out past the breakwater (about 10 minutes), only once I've been cruising for a bit and then slow down. Pressure gauge reads 20 when I throttle back to idle speed. Oil was changed and level is good. Could this be a bad sending unit?

What kind of oil are you using?

I have a very similar issue happening such that the psi gauge will drop out at intermediate times. I think it's a bad sensor or a loose connection because everything is running fine. You might be experiencing something similar?

Sorry so long to get back to this. I'm using Rotella 10-W30 oil. This is on an 89 Sunsport (PCM 351). Not too much in the way of sensors that I am aware of, so I thought it might be the oil sending unit. I will recheck the connections at the gauge, but it is so predictable that I think it needs to be something other than a loose wire.

You need to use a mechanical oil gauge to see what the real pressure is. Do you use it on lanier?

Way late in updating this, but I finally ordered a replacement sending unit from skidim. Installed it and everything is back to normal. Gauge doesn't jump around at all, no warning lights coming on, etc.
