Default New Boat Battery and Setup

I'm needing to get new batteries as the ones in the boat when I bought it are almost dead.
Looking at getting some Costco Marine Batteries, are they any good?
Also currently mine 2 batteries are connected at the negative terminal, is that the best setup?
I've seen that some people have one battery for the stereo and one for the engine starting.
    Thanks for any help.

There are only 4 manufactures of batterys Sears and Interstate don't make their own batterys . Get the battery with the highest cold cranking capacity and warranty. It dosn't matter where you buy it.

Yes regarding the grounds. Perfectly normal to have one bank connect to the other, which is then connected to the engine ground. How you intend to the dual bank setup, will drive the type of switch and how its wired. There are system that have dedicated cranking batteries and dedicated house batteries. There are systems will cranking batteries and deep cycle batteries and then there are setups with a dual purpose battery on each bank. There are 100% manual setups and those that are passive/manual.
