    Default lenco trim tabs

Hi ive been looking at the new surf systems on boats and all they are is trim tabs mouted to semi push the water down and away from the boat. After seeing a price of near $3500 for this system from wake makers i looked into the lenco trim tabs and you can get the complete set up for $600 will these work they are 12x12 tabs? Just wondering if this is a better option.

Suck gate. You can buy them for under 200.00 . I make my own for under 50.00 . Its absolutely unbelievable how well they work with no drilling, gluing or modification to the boat.

This spring, I installed a set of Lenco 12 x 12 tabs on my 2005 Launch 21V. With 750lbs each rear locker and 1100lbs in the front, the wake was good but not great. The biggest advantage was switching on the fly. I would say, that I got a similar size and shape wake to the previous summer without the tabs but adding 700lbs external ballast to the surf side and the hassle of moving it all from side to side. THEN...I made a DIY suck gate and used it together with the tabs and WOW, AMAZING! I've also tried it with just the suck gate and still excellent but a little shorter sweet spot. If I had it to do all over again, I would just go with the suck gate.

agree with dutchman, the tabs lengthen the wave without the need for bow weight. my boat doesn't have a bow bag so all the weight is in the rear. Both 750's puts out a nice wave but add another 500 or so and the wave is beautiful. The other thing i noticed is my boat works harder with a suckgate than it does with the tabs. But for the price i would just go suckgate.

Well my current set up is
    750 in each vdrive
    800 in floor
450 on seat on surf side
And ronix eight3 surf shaper opposite surf side
Wake plate up for steep wave
Wake plate down for long wave
Im just looking to take it to the next level without buying a new surf boat.
Im going to be up grading the vdries from 750's to 1100's
And still run the 450 on surf side but also run the trim tabs along with the ronix wave shapper at same time. I think this would be amazing! Plus its only $550 for the 12x12 kit with everything needed and the switches. Pretty cheap i think for that kind of upgrade considering wakemakers is getting $3999.00 for the wave control.

the difference with the wavemakers system is the tabs themselves. you're not going to get a great wave just by adding trim tabs. if i were you i'd modify the trim tabs after looking at the various designs out there so that they do some water diversion. supra, moomba, mastercraft gen2, wavecontrol--they all have strategically placed fins and channels to divert the water away from the surfer and that's why they work better than slapping a trim tab on would.
