Default New to me Sunsport 242

I finally pulled the trigger on a new to me 2012 Sunsport 242. If you don't know me or haven't seen my other Supra, it is a 1983 Supra Rider that has been in the family since new named Mischief IV. I am the 4th owner and just completed 17 years of ownership. I have attended the Southern Supra Reunion all five years that it has been held with the first three pulling the old boat along. Short backstory...I have MJHKnox to thank for all of this. At one reunion, he said park your boat and come drive mine so I can surf. So, along with Gogger, we jumped in his boat and I spent the better part of a day trying to figure out what a surf boat was all about. Talk about culture shock, I hadn't driven anything that nice ever and the fact that it had Perfect Pass, I didn't really have to do anything, made it all the more comical. I was overthinking the driving part but it handled like a barge and definitely not like my Rider. It didn't take long and Gogger went home and bought a 2006 24SSV. I went home and bought a lake house...then a pontoon boat...then a jet ski all the while tearing the Rider apart for another complete upholstery re-do and engine clean. (Call me crazy!) That will be a different thread coming up.
Eventually, I figured the surfing part out thanks to visits from Gogger and MJHKnox at the lake house. They knew it was just a matter of time before I purchased a surfboat for myself.

So, this year the wife really wanted to attempt wake surfing at the reunion which she did with much help from Loadup and MJHKnox. (See 2016 Supra Reunion pics) She had a blast and now had awakened her inner surfer self in which she sent me Craigslist ads with gorgeous local Supras for sale. We found this beautiful 2012 with low hours and went for a drive to look at it. Two weeks later, it was parked in my driveway. Not only did I get a helluva deal, I successfully ended the drought in GA. Since she has been at her new house for the week, it has rained four or five days. Not a drop in months and then Bam!

I knew I really wouldn't get a chance to use it so I went ahead and winterized it yesterday and put her in storage for the next few months. There are a few things I will change, the first being to swap out the 600 lb bags to 1100 lb for rears which I have already ordered. I think it has a leak somewhere in the overflow hose for the center bag that needs to be addressed. Haven't found much else wrong or anything urgent to address. She needs a good buff and polish and I'm sure the black gelcoat will drive me crazy to keep clean but she is so so sexy with great lines.

The boat has 86 hours in total with only 39 hours on the motor. There was a warranty issue and the factory installed new motor after the PO reported issues with the CAT Back exhaust system. He refused to have them swap just the exhaust and instead they replaced the entire motor Spring of '14. It is the Indmar 350 MPI with 345 HP with about 370 ft. lb of torque. I wish it had the 409 HP but this thing gets up and goes far better than I would have ever believed. It does have the upgraded ACME 1235 14.5 x 14.25 4 blade prop. I think I hit 38 mph as the top speed which is probably the best that prop can do seeing it is better for slow and easy with extra torque.

From what I was told, it was on display at a boat show (low serial number - #eight) for 2012. The tower and swim platform are from 2013. The S-bend was a different tower than the 2012 and prior. They platform just had all new SeaDek replaced several days before I picked it up.

For stereo it has 10 speakers plus a subwoofer. It has five different locations in which to adjust the volume level and/ or make changes to unit. One location is fine with me. It has several amps and doesn't sound too bad. It does have the speed intensity setting to lower or increase volume with speed.

The Supra Vision dash will be a nice touch once I get to fully use it more. This boat has pretty much all the bells and whistles anyone could want. The heaters were nice to use to keep our hands warm on a cold November day. Anything I missed, I'm sure the pics will show. Anyways, enjoy!

Keeping the kid sister as part of the fleet. I will try to do another thread soon on the latest rebuild.
