Service Required message while underway

So Service Required came up... boat was running fine, all gauges were within spec. I stopped boat, turned off battery bank for a couple minutes, then started everything back up... no message.... ran the boat several hours rest of day with no issues....

I know that the service light could be a number of things... anyway to check this with an automotive scan tool, or is a "Marine" specific one needed.

nearest dealer is 3-4 hours away... but have access to good automotive scan tool if needed.
