    Default 7SI to 10SI

    2002 Supra Launch SSV

So I'm pretty sure my Alt. is going out. I put a multimeter on it and it idles at 11 volts at the battery and about 12 amps as well (first time using an ammeter so not 100% sure I did it right). I'll probably have autozone doublecheck it tomorrow JIC. My question is should I stick with the OEM 7SI or upgrade to the 10SI like in the link below to get the boost to 100 amps? In different forums it seems like it will work and fit. The big problem I see is the 7SI has a positive post and negative post and then a 2 wire plug and the 10SI only has the pos post and a 2 wire plug that I'm not sure matches up with mine. Do you guys think this is worth the switch?

I'm using this 105 amp 10si on my PCM 454, replaced the factory ~40 amp unit. Just need to run a 4 gauge charge wire. DB Electric is mostly real cheap foreign stuff, so be aware. No issues in several years with their alternator and starter on my boat, but I had a Ford 3g alternator from them fail within a few months. I tested and verified, but didn't pull it apart so as not to void the warranty. They refused to send me a replacement before receiving the dead one, so I bought a "lifetime warranty" 130 amp 3g from Pep Boys that I've had no issues with. Gave the replacement 130 amp 3g from DB to a friend who only had a 95 amp, been fine for a year or so now.
