Default 2005 Supra SSV Gravity Games Edition

    Hi,

I'm looking at getting my first ski boat. Im currently looking at a 2005 Supra SSV Gravity Games Edition. Does anyone have any reviews on this boat. Does it have a good surf wake, as my main concerns are wakeboarding and wake surfing.

    Thank you

    What size boat - 22 or 24?

For wakeboarding, you can use the 'stock' setup. It will not produce a monster wake, but more that enough for a new person or family.
If you start adding weight, it will increase. You can also pull tubes if that is your thing.

For surfing, if the boat is stock, it will disappoint you. Back in 2005, surfing was not the thing to do.

To get an older boat to surf, you will need to invest some time and $:
    1) you will need at least 750-1100#s ballast bags in the rear lockers. Pretty sure the boat came with 400s on each side. You can some some used ones to save a few $s for around $100-150/bag. Or buy them new online - $200/bag. Besides the lockers, some will also lay an add'l ballast bag on the surf-side on the back floor or seat cushions. All of this gives HEIGHT to the surf wake

    2) you will probably need some weight up front. The stock came with a center bag. Adding front weight will make the surf wake LONGER or have deeper pocket. People will put this in the walkway or on the bow cushions. You might be able to reuse one or your 400#s bags in the walkway.

    3) you will need a wakeshaper devise or suck-gate for the not surf side. Lots of stuff on the web about these devises. You can make one for $25-50 or buy one for $150-200.

If you are surfing a lot, once you upgrade the ballast bags, you can use the old pump system (sprinkler value system/one pump for 3 bags), but it will be VERY slow. Most people are upgrading the ballast bags and pumps all at once. Three new ballast pumps will be another $1K + labor - depending on what size pumps you buy. There are other options, but most are using the newer style ballast pumps.

Also, depending on how many people you ride with when surfing and your ballast weight, you MAY run into 'planing issues/slow starts'. A prop swap will solve that. You are probably looking at $450ish. But you do not have to cross that bridge until you have the issue. This helps with your hole-shot for both wakeboarding and surfing.

Pretty sure in 2007 the hulls were redesigned.

BTW - if that boat has the stock Kenwood Stereo Setup - YIKES.
That thing was OK 13 year ago, by today standards it sucks. Got to have some good tunes. Just a consideration for your budget.

    Hope that helps.
