    Default Which direction to go?

Price wise the new boats are getting out of touch for much of the boating community. I myself could pull the trigger new, but the season is just too short to justify the numbers. Love my Launch but as the kids age I'm feeling the cramp of room on the vessel. I'm sort of looking for the next boat, not exactly sure what direction to go.

Keep in mind I have the choice of three bodies of water to go to. All the same 10 mile distance from home. Lake Erie, Lake St. Claire and the Detroit river.

    My options...

1-Keep the launch and buy a 10meter plus trawler/motor yacht.

2-Sell the Launch and invest in a dual purpose boat. I don't think it exists.

3-Sell the Launch and by a newer Supra..

We mostly Surf, ski and tube sometimes. Love to eat and relax on the lake. Has anyone surfed behind a big cruiser boat?

Sell the launch and buy a new Moomba Makai. 24’5” and less than a Supra price wise

Haha, maybe if he asked this question on the Moomba forum, he'd want to buy a Moomba.

Number 3 is the way to go. Upgrade to a used Supra V-drive if you can't afford a new one. The SL is hot but too pricey at the moment. I love my 242 and has been the best thing for me and my family. You can't beat the looks (no ugly pickle fork), an incredible wave to surf, and creature comforts you will not get on buying an entry level boat from the entry level sister company.

The Makai is every bit as much of a boat as a 242 and then some. If you are not buying a new Supra from the last 3-4 years, you may want to look at a new Moomba and the Makai is the flag ship. Entry level or not I would take it over a 242 any day of the week.

What is your budget and what is considered 'newer' to you?

Just getting to a v-drive will be a big step in room.

    A 24 Supra around 2006 - 2010 will be in the $30s to mid-50s.
    A 24 Supra around 2010 - 2014 will be in the mid-50s to $65ish.
The redesigned Supra (SA/SE/SG) past 2015+ will range starting around $80+
If you wanted a brand new Supra, you would not be asking this question - but they are sweet.

Do you know the price of that Dallas Boat-Show 2019 green and black one?
Thought I noticed a pic on Fbook for $106? Not sure if someone paid that or that was the boat show price pre-negotiation.

Sticker was 106, I think it sold for 100 even. That one was well loaded, had the new 450 motor too.

Did not know that was the new motor. That's probably 6-8K there.

Going to need it when that 24'6"+ boat already comes with stock 4K. Stock is boring. Plus, you can put a lot of butts in those seats.

Interior was nice, but that green flake - not so much for me. But I was not buying it.

Yeah I was not a fan of the color combo on that particular one. The boat they had for all the dealers to test at their dealer meeting only had the 400 and they said they were able to get on plane with the ballast full. I’m not sure how many people were in the boat. We run 4,000 lbs in our mojo and can get on plane with 4 adults in the boat, never tried with more. Granted the Makai is 1.5 ft longer and like 800 lbs heavier
