    Default Stuffing Box Adjustment

Can someone help me out with how i go about adjusting my stuffing box? I have a 1985 supra comp ts6m. I've never adjusted one before and would like a little guidance before attempting it. Thanks for any info

    I have a 90 Comp.

    What I did -

Loosen up the thinner nut on the prop shaft. It will go back towards the bottom of the boat.
Tighten the larger end bolt until you only get about 1 drip every 5-10 seconds into the boat. I did this while the boat was running and someone else was driving. Just be real careful. Not sure if there is a safer "recommended" way.
Retighten the thinner bolt back up.

I am sure these bolts have more techincal names - but I just did it for the first time on Saturday.

Thanks I'll try that this week hopefully or this weekend. There doesn't seem to be a good way to do it without being in the water. Oh well. Thanks for your input I appreciate it.

yup, you need to be on the water to make sure you get a slow drip of water to keep it lubed.

Can it just be sitting in the water or do you have to be driving/running it?

It was my understanding it has to be going to adjust properly. I had someone else drive while I adjusted. Just be real careful of the tranny.
