Speaking in generalities, Wix makes a good filter for a fair price. After several oil analyses on my PCM Ford 351, I settled on Shell Rotella T6 5W-40. It's a diesel oil, but it can stand up to the shear, fuel dilution, and abuse a gas marine motor dishes out. I personally avoid any 5W-30 or 10W-30 automotive oils in marine inboards.

15-40 rotella or delo. Change it every year. I usually go two changes to one high quality filter. (I run about 50 hours a year, not enough to come close to using up the filter media)

Marine engines run hot oil temps and heavy loads. I wouldn't run anything less than a 10-40 in the motor. Seems like almost every manuf agrees as well
