Default 87 Supra wonÂ’t go into drive

Hey guys, IÂ’m new here but I am in need of some help. I have an 87 Supra that will not go in drive. Reverse and neutral are find but when I push the throttle forward into drive it just revs. Im not quite sure where to start so if anyone has any ideas of what it might be I would very much so appreciate the advice. Thanks!

Sounds like the forward clutches are worn out . the trans will have to come out and rebuilt or replaced.

It's worth verifying the cable isn't out of adjustment first. Find where the cable attaches to the tranny and remove the cable. Move gear lever by hand, have someone behind the wheel if on the water. Don't run her in gear on a trailer for more than a couple seconds without water on the cutlass bearing. Adjust tranny end of the cable if necessary. Save up money if not, lol.
