Default Part Identification and assistance needed

    Hi, I have an ‘89 Supra 351
PleasureCraft. It’s been sitting for many years. I have it turning over and have determined it’s not firing.
I suppose I’m correct in replacing the next part down the line.
What is the cylindrical object that the wires from the solenoid/starter area enter on one side and on the other there is a built-in wire that goes to the top center of the distributor cap? It is mounted on a brace on top of the block.
I am assuming it may be the problem because it is very corroded and the terminals are rusted.
    Please shed some light.
    Thanks in advance.

Do you mean the ignition coil? Does it look like this?

That’s it! Could that be the reason I’m not getting spark to the plugs?

Could be. Pull the coil wire off the cap and hold it close to a ground to see if you are getting fire out of the coil. If so, then the cap, condenser, or points are next.

Man, that must be it. The wire from the dist. cap was melted onto the coil and half that bond looks burnt.
    I really appreciate it, sir.

Yes. So I took the entire distributor out and am looking to replace the old with new.
Would you please advise where and how to order a new distributor and cap, etc?
My O’Reilly’s guys can’t find it.
    Many thanks.
