    Default Prop education

    Hey all,
I am new to the forum but am hoping for some sage advice.
I have recently had my 85 sunsport restored and converted exhaust, added fuel injection and electronic ignition. According to the guy helping me who just took the boat for a test run, there is now a lot more room for top end speed. Wondering if anyone has insight on props in terms of pitch, size, number of blades etc. mine is original. I know some of it is personal choice but I am not knowledgeable with this and would appreciate advice
    Many thx

Prop tech is light years ahead of where it was in 85. I think you will be pleased. And, because there has been so much change, I would recommend calling the manufacturer you choose to make sure you get the best prop for your use. They usually have to make the props after they receive the order anyway, so best to call and give them your details.

Interesting. Ive never had an ACME order be backordered in 12 years. They ship out either same day or next day at the latest.

It only takes an hour or so to CNC a prop. Why would they backorder?

My experience, for what it's worth. 86 Sunsport, 351, 1:1 Velvet Drive. Original prop was a Michigan Wheel 13x13 3-blade. I tried the 4-blade which gave me better hole-shot but no top-end. Finally settled on ACME 543 which is 13x11.5 3-blade. It has the hole-shot of a 4-blade with the top speed of the 3-blade. Happy camper!
