Hello community,

I have to change the hose on my shaft packing. it's a 1988 Supra Beavura with 454.
The plan is to remove the prob, loosen and warm up the coupler, and then place a piece of steel between the gearbox and the shaft. then screw the parts back together until the coupler is free. Will I get it off the wave like that? Is it enough to heat the coupler in boiling water when assembling, or do you have to press it in?
can the hose of the packing be made a little shorter so that it doesn't stay in the same worn place?
I'm happy for tips on who has already done it.
greeting
Tim
