    Default Props and Rpm

    I have a '05 22' launch ssv
trying to learn about props ... size ... number of blades ... how they effect rpm and speed
    I have on the boat a 14" x 18 4 blade with 1 1/8 cup? the boat turns 4600 rpm and about 45 - 48 mph .
what would be recomended for more speed without loosing too much low end power
we mostly pull young wakeboarders 80lbs - 165lbs
    thanks

    have offer on 3 blade 14" x 18" prop

Stick with a four-blade for your boat. Call Acme up on the phone. In fact I had even better luck and bought my new prop from NettleProps.com. They were the most helpful and had the lowest price by $75.

My top speed is 42 and I bought a slower speed (more power) prop for pulling more ballast and surfing. Why would you want more speed, don't pull those little boarders at 45mph now.

I have a nice prop puller only takes 10min max to change so ..... when its time to just cruise the river with friends I'd like to keep up!

the boat with the 4 blade will turn about 4600 rpm but I don't know if thats a function of the prop or rev limiter or what? I have the assalt 340hp motor does anybody know the max hp/ at what rpm?

I'll read more threads and learn!

Your boat likely has a rev limiter. Mine does not. I was told by NettleProps.com never go over 4500, so I bet you are at the max. Check your manual. You would need a speed prop to go faster. If you do not use ballast, there is no reason the speed prop won't pull wakeboarders 100% fine. The only reason you would want a more aggressive prop is for running more weight so the boat can rip out of the hole. You would also want that for barefoot or deepwater slalom starts for big guys or guys who want a good hard pull.

Call Nettleprops.com and they will tell what you need in just a couple minutes.

I think the guy I talked to at Nettle's was J. T. He definetly knows what you would need. They are great people to work with.
