I hear the manual ones don't have as much movement to them and can only go up or down a couple inches. That is really all you need anways. Ideal position IMHO is down an inch from horizontal.

Hey guys!
I found this guy here (Pj) he has been really good to work with and has found me everything I have needed for my 88 saltare. Seems to know where to get it all. Even the stickers! Give him a call if you need anything

Well in general terms if you put the plate all the way down, the wake dissappears. If you put the plate all the way up the wake is much bigger. If you put the plate down JUST A TOUCH from horizontal it does IMO help the wake to be bigger.

My 1990 owners manual states; CAUTION: DO NOT lower the cavitation plate(wake plate) below the horizontal plane or raise it over 1/2" Mine is at horizontal, the manual says to raise it 1/2" for trick and barefoot...maybe I should try this!
Yeah if it can go up past horizontal, try it out! Should help too. Mine is aftermarket hydrolic and it can't go up past horizontal.
The reason they tell you not to go down past horizontal is that it forces the bow down lower into the water. If you go fast and the bow is too low it cen 'porpoise' or dive underwater. As long as you are adjusting in small increments you'll know when you are too far down.

i don't think you can raise the manual ones too high. after a point, it loses its affect. at least i remember raising mine most if not all of the way.
