Default Your total boat weigh-in (displacement)

Just wondering how much water people are pushing for surfing.

Formula is dry boat weight + ballast + crew.

WakeMikeys boat 87 SunSport 19.5' weighs 2225 dry,
    + 1670lb ballast fully loaded (350bow, 275rearlocker, 225rearbenchseat, 720floor, 100lead),
+ crew of four people est 150lb each is 600lbs
    = grand total of 4495lbs.

    How much are ya'll pushin?

Yeah when I look at dry weights of boats, it is very interesting. My older boat is advertised as having a kevlar-reinforced hull to reduce weight. At 2225lbs it is lighter than most boats. Norm for a newer boat is at least 1000lbs heavier dry. What is up with that?

I don't know, seems as though technology would send things in the opposite direction to make boats lighter and more streamlined. Maybe with the so called "wakeboard" boats...heavier is better due to the increased water displacement and resulting larger wake.

Well I assumed it was for a stronger hull that could withstand the increased beating of waves, doubleups and being weighted down.

According to NADA your 87 weighs in at 2550 dry. My 89 weighs 2950 dry. Remember to add the weight of the fuel also.

Thanks Michael looks like I was off a bit there on my dry numbers (250 shy for my boat) but I know that brand new boats sure weight a lot more! You are right I was forgetting fuel weight too. For me that is about 25g.

Actually, I am confused on the weight of my boat. When I purchased the boat, the published weight was around 3800 lb. (07 Sunsport 22v), but that was with the standard engine and no tower. I also do not think that the Sunsports came standard with the gravity III ballast. There is/was no published weight for the boat as delivered. (340 hp engine, tower, racks, ballast.) I have also added an additional battery, three amps, 3 sets of component speakers (replaced the six crappy kenwoods) speakers + tower speakers, light bar.
