I can ollie in the flats about a foot high, pretty consistantly. I have yet to be able to transfer that to the wave. Never sure if I am suppossed to be ollieing just after I hit the wave, or if I want to ride up the wave, and then ollie off the top? Kinda confused on the technique of when to pop it.

Here is a 2min video of me from early last summer. We have since added more weight hehe! Riding with a rope so I can recover if needed. First minute is slashes and stalls but at the end I am trying to ollie off the wake.

James I cannot watch youtube at work so I'll hafta check the vid at home. Ever try hosting with Vimeo? Are you coming to surf Worlds this summer? It's on my home river in Minneapolis! I am thinking about signing up for some ride time behind that wall of a wave. Hope you keep stopping by here!

Nice ridin in the video Mikey.

Watch James in this short video:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_6Y5...eature=channel

Look at how he pumps off the top of the wave, then how hard he digs in at the bottom of the wave before shooting back up the face for the air.

I would suggest you get rid of the rope and practice. I used to practice with the rope, too, because I felt bad for my crew that they'd have to circle around to get me more often, but found that without the rope I had more use of that 2nd hand when working the wave and trying for airs, and it would also force me to learn how to pump and recover from further back on the wave. (not to mention, I'd always be thinking about where the slack in the rope was so it didn't get in the way instead of concentrating on my riding)

I usually warm up with the rope or try very-new tricks with the rope, otherwise I do not use it much. Here is the 2nd half of that run w/o any rope - but also w/o any ollies! hehe that was the only reason I posted the rope-run was to point out the ollies.

Yeah - we'll be at the WWSC, looing forward to being back in Minnesota. We used to ride the Lake Washington contest, but have missed the last few years. What was always so odd to me was the lack of fences! Out here in California we fence off our garbage cans to keep them from being stolen!

I do have a channel on Vimeo, check under Flyboywakesurf, that's the name where I posting everything now. Come say hello if you make the event!

Idaho Waters all the way up north to Coeur D'alene Lake. The clarity and color is like none else, makes for some beauty wave pics. If I remember we only had a few of us on the boat that day, a little bit of sac upfront, empty on the right and full 40 on the left at about 9.8. For what ever reason my boat doesn't take much to curve out a decent wave.
