    Default Help - faded hull

I have a blue hull on a 84 comp and it has some good fading going on - any tips or links on howto refinish the hull? I figure the right way would involve using a buffer and rubbing compound?

    Thanks!

you are off to the right start. i like 3m heavy duty marine rubbing compound.

check this thread and if you're looking for a good, cheap buffer there's a link to one. it's worth $30......http://www.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ul...;f=37;t=000478

i also posted a pic in the pictures section on this board of my boat after taking the stripes off and compounding.

compounding with a wool bonnet (looks like a mop) works the best. it wipes all the old grime and crap right off. then polish with lighter grit. then wax. i added the step of 303'ing before the wax but wiped it down real good to get any residue off.

Thanks for the tips! Checked out your boat pics too, that came out sweet!! You got to that with just using the marine rubbing compound? wow...

    Is that polishing/sander orbital?
