Ballast for Wake Surfing?

I know this has been on this forum for many discussions on figuring out the correct ballast and wake plate adjustment and speed. I have a 2008 24 SSV Gravity Games Edition with the stock ballast of 400lb sacs on each side in the rear and the stock 1150lb sacs in the front. We have tried all kinds of different scenarios to find the perfect wave yet we are unable to find the sweet spot where we can lose the rope. I do not want to buy new sacs at this point so any advise would be appreciated.

Without buying new sacs i think your best bet would be to put both 400 on the surf side and fill the front ballast to 60-70% full, wake plate around half way, and between 11.5-12.2 mph.

If you are just going to be surfing, another idea would be to move your center sac to the rear surfside and put your 2 400's in the bow.

I have the 24 and have just been adding weight. It is a big boat that requires weight. I run about 1100 in the rear surfside, 300ish in the non surf, and 1100 in the center.

I know you were looking not to spend money but $150 - $180 is what it would cost to have yourself pretty well fixed up for surfing.

I run the same setup as KG and fine tune it with the people in the boat.

The 750's work great in the rear lockers as an upgrade, then I have a second bag in the surf side.

Once loaded....sit back and watch the gas gauge fall to E.

I just ordered 2 x 1100lb bags for the rear, with 650 in locker and 2 x 350lb bags to move around where needed,, 22 ssv, cant wait to try the 1100's



you can also buy single bags for around $100, but you will need a pump so just order the 1100 for $189,,, great investment, and put the 400's together.

I have also used the big blue water jugs lol as bonus weight, I bring 3 or 4 of them on my DD last few years. but thats a bit silly on a 08 24 footer.

I've got 1100lbs bags in the rear on both port and starboard sides, I add a 750lbs bag on top of whichever surf side we're using and fill the bow 1100lbs bag full as well. I'm thinking of slinging another portable bag over the back bench, everytime we add more weight the pocket gets so much bigger. Unfortunately, this could be discounted to the fact that all of my crew are just learning how surf and we suck!
