I got one from db electric online. 105 amp single wire alternator. It took some convincing because of it's size but it fit. I also have an 86 SunSport.

    Mani,
Do you have a part number, I don't know anything about alternators, Don't want to get the wrong one.
Going with a bigger alternator do I have to upgrade anything else, or just plug and play?
What amp is the stock alternator?

    Saltare Inverts I pm'ed you...

    Here's the part number: ADR0334

There weren't any major modifications. I just cut all the wires off a bit of a ways back and masked them off so they don't cause a short. Then I went and bought a length of 2 gauge battery wire and ran it from the single terminal post on the alternator to the battery selector switch. It's worked great so far.

Here is the link you are looking for. The new ones only have one wire.

You would have to call DB and talk to Ron I think it was. Guy is a genius. I guess the old alts have a part called an external voltage regulator. The new part is housed inside and doesnt need the other wires. I do not recall the reason anyone would want a new 3-wire alt. I would sugesst giving him a call. He was super psyched and proud of his product.
