Second heater

Hi,

I own a Supra 22ssv with a factory installed heater. However we would like to install a second one. Did anyone install a second hydronic heater?

Installed a 3 vent heater in a 2007 22v behind the drivers seat under the rear facing seat with 2 tube vents exsiting to the left of the drivers seat near the floor and the 3rd fix vent near the drivers right heal works great as the two tubes can reach any were in the rear of the boat or just blow on the passengers feet when stored.

I have installed several heater units, many times the water connections at the engine is incorrect from many OEM installs. I have even seen many Malibu installs where both connections are on the positive pressure points, this equates into minimal or no water flow, which means no heat. I prefer to use the lower block plug or intake manifold connection for the positive pressure, and tape in a T fitting into the water intake connection, prior to sea water pump, not after the pump. Another option especially if you want two heaters, utilize the block drain plug and the intake manifold fitting. Plum in a fresh water pump, 3.9 to 4.5 gpm works best. This way you can flow much more water, which inturn produces more heat output. I have run this type of system on many cruisers. I have excellant heat output on my Beast with a 496 HO. I utilized the crossover tube, between heads as the positive output and taped into the water intake prior to the impellor pump. I have extreamly hot output even at 600 rpm. Good luck Al

I want someone to do a write on a completely-DIY heater with a core sourced from a junkyard. My mechanic told me I could build one for about $50.

You could probably build the heater assy, but what about the fan? Switch? Vents?, Hoses? Engine connections? Ect. I know these aren't cheap but I install 28,000 btu 2 vent systems for under $600.00 including labor. The Heater units are from Heater Craft.
