I decided to see what I could do with the wheels on my trailer. I got the aircraft paint stripper and went to work trying to remove the cloudy clear coat. That stuff works great. It took 1-2 coats with about a 10 minute wait time to remove the clear coat. A good wipe down with solvent, polish and viola.

I think they look much better.

Thanks. They look better in person, I think. The pictures don't really show how bad they really looked.

Did you take the tires off or does the stripper not hurt them??

The stripper didn't explicitly say to keep it off rubber, but I used a piece of cardboard and care to prevent overspray and didn't take the tires off. Any overspray I got on them I wiped off immediately with mineral spirits.
