Velvet drive HP rating???

Hello All,

I have an 86 Sunsport in the process of complete resto, I am planning on a a bit more horsepower from stock, any specs on how much horsepower the velvet drive can handle. I am hoping fro 300-325.

I have a 72C Velvet Drive in my 88 Supra Pirata. The engine is a 454 and says 350 hp on the plate, however, I have heard these are usually 330 hp. Have the same trans in a 63 Century behind a 425 Buick that has been built, pushing 400+. If you have a 71C, for a small block engine, then I can't comment on that. Good Luck Century63

The 71c has been put behind many 300 to 320 hp engines. Ie, Mercruiser's MPI Scorpion engines. I personally have a 72c behind our 425 hp 496HO. No, problems or regrets. Just remember to change your fluid every year. Good luck Al
