Wotan, thanks! I do not anticipate any water getting into the hull, but I am being realistic and proactive. Water finds its way into everything, but I hope not! Cutting the lateral stringers with on a 45 not only allows for drainage, but it actually makes test fitting and installation much easier. I didn't have to fight with the bedding material and the bottom corner of the stringer at all.

Looking good man! I wish can fast fwd to where you are now! Im in south Florida and its already surfing weather. Actually....I think we only had like 3 "chilly" weekends this winter.

I made some good progress this past weekend. I got the center stringer all glassed in, and also bedded in the bulkhead and pads for the front motor mounts. I test fit the motor on Saturday morning just to make sure everything was going good so far, which it is. I finished 95% of the glass work in the motor box area, just have to fine tune some outside corners to my liking.

I am also flush mounting a piece of 3/4" plywood underneath where the drivers seat mounts, so that the screws have more meat to bite into. To achieve this, I simply used some 2x4 pine drops and cut them into random lengths. They were all coated twice in resin, and countersunk for screws. I marked the depth, and bedded them to the stringers and used the screws to hold them in place. The 3/4" plywood will be set on top of these 2x4 ledges, and the floor will cover everything when it's all said and done.

You can also see where I filled in the center of the hull on the bottom, right at the bulkhead. I did this to keep water from entering this low portion of the hull.



The really long pieces of glass over the outer stringers were not used, the cloth ended up being bad. I have a full roll of cloth from a friend, it came from his grandpas shed. Too many years of water leaking onto it and not being used have caused the cloth to be unusable. It wouldn't really accept the resin, and something was just fishy about it so I scrapped those pieces. Not a big deal.

And just for fun, I have been trying to use just one stirring stick throughout the whole process. My first stick snapped and was trashed, but I have been using this stick for about 7 weeks. I've found it entertaining to see it get built out as I continue my progress on the boat.
