Edelbrock carb issues , maybe ?

I have a 88 pirata
At 3500 pm I'm getting a backfire
Replaced cap , rotor , plugs had carb rebuilt
Still giving me drama but can now get up too 3800 rpm
Adjusting auto choke seemed to help but still has these gasps
Any ideas ?

Have you checked fuel pressure also what is timing set at? Is the backfire happen all of a sudden? If it happens suddenly then it tends to be ignition however if it happens slower then it tends to be fueling.
