    Default New prop

I have an 02 SSV and I just swapped my original prop (14 - 1 for an Acme 1433 (14 - 14.25). Before the swap I could only reach 42mph at 4600rpm. Now I reach the 4850rpm redline at 37.5mph.

I usually run more than 2500# of ballast for wakesurfing so I wantd a prop that will bring my rpm's up a little when running at 11mph. It just seemed to lug along before but now it is quiet and alot smoother running a couple hundred rpm's higher when surfing. Well spent money.

had a relationship with him for several years as a sponsor of an event that my
wife and I put on - and I know several people he has sold boats to.

He works with his boat owners after the sale to ensure they have the best
    setup possible. However, he's claiming I should have more like a 12.75 x 16
for where I live (5200 ft elevation) and the kind of boating I do.

But -when I go to most any website, they talk about the 14 x 14.25 being
the right prop for my boat - especially with ballast (which I rarely use).

what gives? I own 2 of these expensive little mothers (props) and wonder if
he's right. He will let me try one out if I want to - but what is anyone else
thinking here? I hear you guys on this site wanting to change props FROM the
type he's suggesting - and moving more towards what I have.

I am fairly new to Inboard props (had an IO for 11 years) .. so went with what
Supra and my (now defunct) Supra dealer told me.

Todd I have the original 13.75 x 17.5 for when just BeeJay and I ride at our home lake. And a 14.25 x 14.5 prop for when we are at a fly-in with a lot of people on the boat and more weight in it. I think something in between would be good. I usually change props as needed.

Try one and let me know what you think.
