Default Got a new(to me) tow vehicle!

Well finally dropped the wallet and purchased a 2002 chevy suburban 2500 last night! This thing should be an awesome tow vehicle, it has the 6 litre motor and seats 8- the same as the boat, go figure! Well sorry Mikey(and everybody else) no pic's yet, it was dark by the time we got home so I just read the owners manual before bedtime. Now I need a hitch by this weekend and we're off!

A Suburban is the ultimate tow vehicle for sure. I am also looking for a larger toe pig. I have narrowed it down to a Suburban or full size GM van Hi top. I am leaning toward the van because it will be better for camping. I was told it shares the same chassis with the Suburban. I have untill spring to find one so I'm not in any hurry.

My shop vehicle, tow vehicle is a 96 2500 suburban, 454, tow gears. I have over 253,000 miles on original engine and transmission. I tow everthing from jet ski's to 35' cruisers. My original shop, tow vehicle was a 73 3/4 ton suburban it had over 450,000 miles before I replaced it. I have my eye on a 2004 with the 8.1 496. Good luck with your new tow rig. Allan

I had an 83 2500 Suburban with 350 (carbureted) and 4.10 gears. What a towing machine! Wish I still had it - but I bought a 99 Suburban with 350 and 3.73 gears instead - didn't pull as well as my old 83!! Now I have a 93 GMC 2500 with 350 and 3.73 gears - it's better than the 99 Suburban but not as good as my old 83 - sure wish I would have kept that one

I owned 2 Suburbans before the current tow vehicle ... an '02 Ford Excursion with
    the 7.3L Powerstroke Diesel engine.

BLOWS THE DOORS OFF even my '99 454 Burb -- but then again, I live at 5200 feet above
Sea Level and often tow over 10,500 foot mountain passes.

Congrats on the burb .. they are sure comfortable!
