Default Ballast arrangement for 86 comp

I have an 86 comp and have recently steped up my speed when boarding but I lost some wake in doing so. I was wondering if anyonehas figured out a good distribution of weight for this boat to create a nice wake for boarding?

Yep, best is beside and behind the eng. Iam trying 600-700lbs/rear and 400lbs/front but Its not working very well. It likes it best around the eng, you just cant walk around after that. Here are a few pictures. Jet

That generation Comp REALLY benefits from additional weight forward in the boat, so shoot for at least a 50/50 weight distribution. The easiest way to do that is, as jet mentioned, to keep the weight alongside the engine, which is roughly the center of gravity of the boat.

I know the 1600-1700 lbs is an extreme and I dont run it often. My fav is 400lbs in the front and 600-700lbs in the rear, that way the floor is open and Its still a pretty nice wake. You also need weight to off-set the driver weight if only 1 person is in the boat like a 85 lb block from Straightline that you can move around. Jet

Hey thanks for the advice guys I've been able to get a much nicer wake through some of your suggestions. However the boat is alot mrs sluggish out of the hole. I realize it's expected to lose some power with the added weight but I was just curious if it is supposed to be a large difference

jasonwm..these boats cant take much nose weight so can what do you mean when you say front weight?? i always use the 60/40 or 70/30 rule. otherwise i will dip my nose under and thats scary!!
