Default 2003 ssv shaft seal leaks

    Hey Guys,

I have noticed the past two seasons that my shaft seal drips a little (no big deal). well, i put the boat in the water for the first time this year and the drip has turned into a steady stream. Its bad enough that bilge will be running within an hour of riding.

Is there an easier fix than replacing the seal? Does the 2003 have the dripless seal?

it is prob a rope style shaft seal, you may just be able to tighten it

you're correct, it is just a standard rope style seal. Can i replace the packing with it still on the boat? I will try adjusting the nut first.
