Default Where is your stereo mounted? Picture

I have an 86 Sunsport, the radio/head unit is on the driver side behind the throttle/shifter. It's never really bothered me that much, but I am installing a new amp, speaker wires and trying to clean the look up some and I was curious is this where Supra factory installed the radio? It looks like this is one of the dumbest places that could have been thought of. If I do decide to move it, I have a big ol' freaking hole that has to be masked now. Anyone have any idea of locations with pictures? I upgraded radio from what is in the picture to the Clarion CMD7.....but this gives you a visual of what I have.

COMP: In the storage dash passenger compartment
    Mariah: Same as the Comp
Saltare: Right above the main dash of the driver.

If I were you, I'd move the head unit, and then fill the hole with a proper EQ. Or you could put a switch panel in there if you plan to run LED's or other auxiliary items.

This is the Saltare location... I don't like having to lean forward so much to adjust volume or whatnot, but overall I think it's a pretty good spot. I would not like it right at the throttle as I could see it getting in the way, being difficult to see, or just being generally annoying. My last boat had the radio mounted on the side right below the throttle and I found that annoying.

My 89 Sunsport had the head unit in the glove box on the top of the passengers side dash. I moved the new unit to the storage compartment on the drivers side dash . I installed a remote near the shifter for driver to control. The Sub and amps are under the dash.

Head unit is behind spotter seat, then the wired remote is on dash on the right side of the steering wheel.

I really really hate where this is now! I mean its a huge hole to fill! I think I might just have to leave it there because there isn't anything that will fill it and look clean. I mean I know my boat doesn't look new, but I at least try to keep the redneck ingenuity hidden as much as possible so duct tape filler is out of the question. I can't even see where this unit was before, there aren't any holes that I can think of to look for.

The location for mine has already been mentioned, but at least I'll throw in a pic.
