Default Help. Raw water intake hose burst - didn't sink

Ok. I'll start by saying that we were caught in a a HEAVY rainstorm right before this happened. I thought that caused the bilge to run excessively. Anyway, the raw water intake hose split around the same time and was pouring water into the boat. We were close to the marina and I made it back with out sinking. The question: I lost most of the power a minute or two before getting to the marina and the temperature gauge was only reading around 120. Did I do any damage?? Thanks for your help.

120? Do you mean 220? 120 isn't even up to warm temp.

For sure the gauge read 120, which is odd.

No water in the water jacket of the block will not give you a accurate reading from the sending unit. Its like trying to take your temperature and not sticking the thermometer under your tongue.

So it sounds like I could have run it hot. Would the loss of power also be related to it being hot?

Loss of power is more likely due to an electrical problem with that much water in the boat. Just guessing. Hard to trouble-shoot until you get a chance to see what works and doesn't work at this point....
