    Default Buying my first Boat

Any advice on buying my first boat? I have been looking at a 1988 Supra TS6m. Price range is under $5000 so I don't have much to work with. Boat has 1200 hours but the new engine only has 200 hours (351 Windsor). Also the floor was completely redone and engine mounts replaced. Any advice or precautions I should know about? I plan on test driving any boat before I buy. thanks!

Were the wooden stringers replaced as well?
If floor was redone and motor mounts replaced I would be wary of the stringers.

Sounds like a fair price given the upgrades re motor, stringers etc.
If you want peace of mind that you are not throwing good money out the window spend 300 and get a professional marine survey done. ( similar to a home inspection) .
Years ago saved me from a purchase of a used tournament boat that ended up having a cracked engine block.
    Best money I ever spent.
Boat I have today was purchased subject to survey.
If seller says no to survey then walk.
You will always find another boat tomorrow.
