That is a wonderful picture Sdc77! My father was in the navy. He had a saying; Red sky at night-Sailors delight. Meaning if the sky is red at night the weather will be generally good the next day.
Thanks inair for your comment :)
Yes the day after was shninny, but today it was raining all day long, and it will be the case until next Thursday :(
Tonight. High of 92 today, still 75 degrees at 9:30pm. (pic taken at 7:30pm)

Looks like a good time to ride! What are the Lawson ridin at dusk?
It was just too nice to stay in and cook last night so my wife and I ran up to the lake and did an evening cruise for dinner and then cruised some more after dinner.

Taking from our table with drinks in hand, still 88 degrees and not terribly humid. Why did summer wait until now to show up?
LOL at "surfboarding".Quote:
830.365¹
Waterskiing, surfboarding and similar activities
No person shall operate a boat for the purpose of towing a person on water skis, surfboard or similar device, and no person shall engage in waterskiing, surfboarding or similar activity at any time after sunset and before sunrise.
So, technically when the sun set at 7:30pm we aren't supposed to take one last surf set...
And of course we wouldn't push the limits...

However, we were riding in the Columbia River. So literally a couple hundred yards north of where we were riding is WASHINGTON. There is actually a state line that is in the river (not necessarily the center of the river either).
The WA law says:
So I would say that since OR and WA laws conflict that I should get the benefit of the doubt when boating on a river that is on the state line...Quote:
RCW 79A.60.170
Water skiing safety — Requirements.
(5) No person shall engage or attempt to engage in water skiing, or operate any vessel to tow a water skier, on the waters of Washington state during the period from one hour after sunset until one hour prior to sunrise. A violation of this subsection is a misdemeanor, punishable as provided under RCW 9.92.030.
Here is a map of where we ride at. The red circle is one of our spots (where we were last night), and the pink circle is another area we frequent. As you can see, those two areas are pretty obviously on the Oregon side of the state line. But a lot of areas would not be as clear cut...

Yup....more reason to move. Love me some night surfin.
The river I ride on is the state border. MN and WI have slightly different boating laws. The river itself has its own set of rules but it does not address water skiing. We have been told that they will enforce whatever set of regulations apply to the state where your boat is registered.
That is an interesting approach. In this case the WA laws for when you have to quit riding are more lenient and that's where my boat is registered and where I have my boater's license from...
It also makes me think about this scenario... I don't smoke anything personally, but we all know that WA recently legalized pot. Wouldn't that be an interesting situation when it's legal in one state and not the other? I remember on the 5th of july there was a huge party camping on Government Island (in the middle of the columbia river, only accessible by boat). I could tell plenty of them were smoking it up. Technically Govt. Island is 100% on the Oregon side, but most people don't know one way or the other (or care). Just interesting stuff to think about.
I would pay to see that!
Unfortunately it would depend on the guy pulling you over... cost guards sheriff state cop or local cop and which state they were from... MY experiences have been that the stricter of the two rulings would be the one they enforce not the more lenient.... either way its a big risk not for what you are doing but how well blind old fishermen running up the river to get home can see! once nav light come on we try to be done just because we don't trust others to look out for us!
Yeah, when we were in that "gray area" we were the only ones that were really running on that stretch of water. Of course, it's always helpful to have the speaker LED's and the tower lights!

That is just plane dumb there...that thing is nothing more than a glorified ultra light to start off with and secondly, to try and barefoot behind the plane that I fly on and off the water in that video, you better be prepared to go footing at around 80MPH minimum.
Here's me and my girlfriend surfing. Quick tip guys make sure your girlfriend surfs the same side of the wake that you do otherwise you will find yourself spending lots of time filling and draining. My girlfriend doesn't ride my side (regular) so in this picture I'm trying to learn the other side.

Just got my new tattoo! It's sort of boating related.

On Friday, after surfing behind a 2011 Wakesetter, we took my boat out and just enjoyed some family time on the water and skipped the surfing and wakeboarding...

Love that Supra freeboard!

Saturday we went out as a family and my wife was ready to do some more work at the surf thing. (She didn't like my oversized board though, so stuck with the smaller one that she's claiming as her own).

This pic actually happened on Friday morning. I took the day off work so I could cheat on my Supra...

Used the "handlebar" mount and just clamped it to the end of my handle.
I used it slaloming and fell at 32 mph without it coming off, but still, I have the floaty backdoor on it. Also, I instruct anyone driving my boat that once someone falls, you slow down to idle and never go faster than that all the way back to the rider/skier.
How are you getting the still 'action' shots with the GoPro - timer or video pulls?
Had it taking pictures every 2 seconds while I was riding.
http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/...psa5cbd2b3.jpgmid day in northern minnesota . Not flat very often! The boat was only sitting for a few minutes
