    Side's mocked up and braced

View of the top assembly. The forward (Rightmost) tube we wish we would have had curved like the back. Oh well, next time.

This picture shows some tread plate we used for side to side stability. We will plasma cut a radius into the plate to match the curves of the tower as well:

These are the "nose pieces" I will be adding to the front. A piece of the aluminum tread plate will be welded in here and cut with a curve as well. This will give the front of the tower some depth and allow it to match the curve of the rear hoop.

The tower will be painted purple to match the boat since I already have a bunch of purple paint. I will build a bimini tower at some point in the near future but I am not worried about that at the moment, I'd like to get the boat back together and in the water first.

That tower looks like it is going to be very solid.

Looking good, Luke. This will probably be one of the best looking DIY towers I've seen on the net.

Thanks guys. I am really excited for the final product! I hope it looks as good as I am envisioning. I hope to have it fully welded by the end of Saturday or sunday.

I was able to paint the top of the boat this Saturday, and it turned out great. I was unable to finish the tower last week due to work, but I can spray that one evening pretty soon without much hassle.

Here is a close-up of one of the gussets with round tubing on the tower:
