    Default Doghouse rebuild.

Well it's time for a rebuild of my dog house base. I have read a bunch of the threads on here. The original base looks to be 1x6 so that's how I'm going to rebuild mine. Has anyone glassed theirs? Also has anyone been able to reuse the original carpet or am I stuck replacing it. Any tips?

Replace the carpet, I used 1x6 I want to say when I redid mine and I will be redoing it again because in addition to it coming in contact with a spinning pulley, the floor changed.

Did you use pressure treated 1x6? Is there anyway to replace the whole rug in the cockpit without removing the cap?
If I'm changing the rug on the dog house then I'm going to change the whole thing in the cockpit. I don't really care about the rug in the ski locker and under the bow seats

I opted to use pressure treated lumber for mine and will probably do so again. Another member on here just replaced the carpet in his '92 without removing the top cap. He only replaced the carpet from the observers seat back to the fuel tank I think. I haven't seen it in person yet but we talked about it a few times before he did it. Hopefully he will chime in now.

Hopefully he will. I really don't want a mismatched carpet

Hey guys, yeah I just did my carpet and doghouse. I pulled carpet from observers seat back and then cut it about 6" fwd of drivers feet well and the side panels by driver. Only original carpet is under nose and under observers seat.

How did you get the carpet under the observers seat? I'm assuming you tuck a little under there? My next question is I'm starting to figure out the base was built. Looks like one side is just a straight piece to make it 45 degree angle. But the other end it looks like the bent a piece of 1x6 to make the rounded corner. Did you guys round that corner or did you square it off? Lastly do you have to remove the slalom pole or it that black plate just a trim ring? Sorry guys just want to do this right

I'm sure someone will chime in but if you look back at some of the rebuild threads, I think the angle on the front part is more like 37 degrees. I know I cut mine at 45 not thinking (after a long couple days swapping in the new EFI engine, living mostly on hot dogs and coors light). It works, but it's not perfect.

on my 92 the carpet just goes up the ledge in front of the observers seat, the carpet under the observers seat is from the nose and I just left that gray for now. I may cut that out and replace just that section but since it is usually covered up I didn't bother with it yet. The plate around the pole comes off. I took my old carpet out in one piece and then used it as a templet to cut the new carpet. Here are a couple picks excuse the mess as I am still cleaning reassembling the boat.
