The design of it isn't actually sealed. The gauge face is of course but the rear portion behind the dash is not. It's humidity in the air that causes the problem, not splashes on the face. It's possible I could put some sillica gel in there and then go nuts with silicon. I hadn't really thought about going that route but you're right, I don't have much to loose by giving it a shot.
