You DO have the Pro Boss! Congrats!

Original alternator is marine approved 50 Amp.

My PCM manual says 285hp @ 4400 rpm. I think the next version of the PROTEC came with MPI and then the GT-40 model came out. Those are probably both 300+ hp with the GT-40 being 310hp. Either way, it has more hp!

Possibly different cam and intake matched with better ignition system = 45+ hp??

I don't know much about boat alternator specs, but from a car audio perspective 50 isn't much. I would imagine there are higher amp output options...

Yes, if you are going to be running high output stereos you'll want a bigger alternator, but in reality not as much as having two batteries.

THAT IS A MUST. If you run any kind of stereo you need two batteries on a perko switch so you can switch from one battery to another in case you run one down.

If you do want a new alternator, I'm getting my new one from www.dbelectrical.com, they have marine grade alternators. And they have some big power pushers. I'm getting the 160amp since I've upped my stereo this year.

Well, I've already started the purchasing for the Audio system and some LED Lighting enhancements and decals/lettering...

I think for the time being, I'm going to focus on upgrading the "basic" system. Currently it just has a Kenwood deck and 4 speakers. I'm going to keep the deck, since it has plenty of expandability options. Phase 1 will be 2 amps, subwoofer, and new 6.5" speakers. The kenwoods that are in there now are "fine" but are designed to be run off deck power, so if I had more juice with an amp, I'd like speakers that are matched up better.

I plan on running a 10" sub in a sealed box. Stay tuned as I accumulate items and get things installed.

I've also ordered a couple items to add some blue LED to my boat. More to come on that.

Also got some decals and lettering ordered for the boat. And I've chosen a name for it. I'm looking forward to my theme coming together!

As I build, I'll update with full specs and pics. I love modding vehicles and the boat will be no exception.

Just for kicks, I thought I'd throw out a pic of my son and I wakesurfing when he was 4 years old. Gotta love the trust of a kid!

I tried to get my boys to ride with me too and both were too scared. My oldest (5) says that he's going to go with me this summer. We will see about that. If he does, I'm sure my 4 year old will do it too since he is monkey see monkey do with his brother! I just showed both of them and my youngest says, "That's me!" I told him it was another boy his age and he said, "That's awesome!"

Glad I could be an inspiration! My son has no fear. Some of that is learned. I had him jumping to me off high objects when he was 2 years old. I taught him he could trust me.

Well, the other day I busted out my new Griot's Garage 6" random orbital that I won at a BMW event last year. It made a big difference, but man, even with the power tool, it's still a lot of work and there's a lot of boat. I'll be putting more work into it soon in anticipation of the new decals I have ordered for it. The side lettering, rear hull lettering and registration numbers shipped today! Woot!

I ended up having to re-wire the trailer plug. When he towed it, the 4 to 7pole adapter popped off, bounced down the street and the flat 4 dragged on the ground for about 10 minutes at freeway speeds. Oh well, cheap fix and lesson learned.

I've also found that my boat cover is most certainly letting a lot of water into the boat. we had a few days where it pissed rain and I hadn't taken out the bilge plug. I opened up the engine cover to find probably 7" of water in the bilge. That was cold to reach in there and take the plug out! So, some "303 Fabric Care" is now on the to do list.
